FARSLEY Celtic led a veritable goal-fest last night as they hit a magnificent seven past Witton Albion.

Elsewhere, FC Halifax Town lost by seven at Grimsby Town, Brighouse Town won 3-1 away, and that result was mirrored in Silsden’s match – only they were on the receiving end.

The Celts were third bottom in the Evo-Stik Division One North when they hosted eighth placed Witton, who had put them out of the FA Cup only last month. Neil Parsley’s men exacted sweet revenge by taking three points.

Paul Walker, Aiden Savory and an Aaron Hardy penalty put Farsley in control before the break and all three added – Hardy from the spot again – in the second half with Lewis Nightingale also on target for the home side.

Rivals Brighouse climbed to within a point of fourth placed Spennymoor Town with a win in the north east.

Ryan Hall gave Paul Quinn’s men a second-minute lead but Callum Griffiths soon levelled. A brace from Ernest Boafo earned three points from a tough away fixture.

Silsden’s recent woes continued with a 3-1 defeat on the west coast in the North West Counties Premier Division.

Squires Gate raced to a three goal lead inside the first quarter of the game and Chris Wademan’s second half reply was little more than a consolation.
