BRADFORD Park Avenue will make the short journey to Manchester a week on Saturday to take on Salford City in the third qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Yesterday's draw was kind to Salford as it handed them home advantage for a third tie on the bounce.

The Ammies have been on the up ever since five of Manchester United's 'Class of 92' became part-owners of the club.

Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Neville brothers Phil and (England assistant boss) Gary and current Red Devils assistant manager Ryan Giggs are all involved.

It will be a second consecutive tie against a club from a lower tier for Avenue but, unlike Saturday's nervy, last-gasp 2-1 win at Consett, the sides are a lot closer on the football pyramid.

Northern League outfit Consett are three divisions lower than Vanarama National North side Avenue but – following promotion last season, when they were divisional rivals of Farsley Celtic – Salford are in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division, just one promotion away from joining Avenue and their own neighbours FC United of Manchester.

The Ammies also knocked out National League North opposition at the weekend, beating Curzon Ashton.

Following Richard Marshall's spectacular stoppage-time winner against Consett, club historian Tim Clapham consulted his records and confirmed that since joining Avenue from FC Halifax Town in 2011, Marshall has played in all 16 of the club's FA Cup ties and has scored eight goals.

Tonight's action sees FARSLEY travelling to bogey side Lancaster City in Evo-Stik League Division One North.

The Celts remain third from bottom after Saturday's 2-0 defeat at fourth-bottom Prescot Cables but only trail Lancaster by five points.

The hosts are also looking to get over a defeat at the weekend as they were knocked out of the FA Cup – losing 2-1 at league rivals Droylsden, who are immediately below Farsley in the table.

All three of the Bradford area representatives in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League top flight are also in action but only LIVERSEDGE are at home, facing Garforth Town.

ALBION SPORTS, held to a goalless draw at home by newcomers Clipstone at the weekend, face a sterner test at Handsworth Parramore as third hosts fifth, with Albion attempting to narrow the four-point gap.

THACKLEY, hoping to build on their win at the weekend, head to Pickering Town in search of another win that would lift them out the drop zone.

SILSDEN are also in action in a rearranged mid-table North West Counties League Premier Division fixture.

The Cobbydalers will be looking to leapfrog visiting AFC Darwen in a clash brought forward because of an upcoming West Riding County Cup tie.
