NEIL Parsley has backed experienced frontman Paul Walker to have a "lasting effect" on his Farsley Celtic squad.

The Bradford Park Avenue striker is at Throstle Nest on a three-month loan – and scored in his second appearance in midweek as the Celts claimed a first Evo-Stik League Division One North win of the season.

Walker followed up skipper Rob O'Brien's opener before summer signing Nicky Guest rounded off the scoring in a comfortable 3-0 win over Ossett.

Parsley is delighted to have landed the mercurial Walker and he sees the player making a big impression in his time at the club.

"We have him for three months and he will play a big part for us over that time," said the Celts boss.

"He is a very good player with exceptional talent and his inclusion improves not only the squad but will have a lasting effect on our players.

"By playing alongside Wakka and watching him work, his professionalism, dedication to his fitness and the game in general and his enthusiasm; it will rub off on our players.

"Paul hasn't played a lot of football and we have to bring him in gradually – but he, and Park Avenue, know that he's over the worst and is ready to get game time."

The Ossett result followed a narrow 2-1 home loss to leaders Northwich Victoria, a display that showed Parsley his side were on the right track.

He said: "Anyone who was in our ground will have seen that there was very little to choose between the teams. They are top and we're bottom (second bottom) but either side could have won that game.

"They had good spells but I thought we came back and threatened them. They took a lead from a penalty minutes after Aiden (Savory) was fouled in their area and I accept that the one we conceded was a penalty. But if that one was then so was the one against Aiden.

"We all know football is about fine margins but at the minute there are no margins between us and even the top club in our division."
