Brighouse Town 6, New Mills 1

Brighouse Town climbed to fourth in the Evo-Stik Division One North table last night after romping to a handsome home victory over basement outfit New Mills.

Town hit their visitors for six, and the rout started early as Isaac Baldwin opened the scoring in the fifth minute.

Baldwin then turned provider as he picked out Danny Facey and, later, Sam Hewitt to give the home side a 3-0 half-time lead.

Ernest Boafo netted a brace in the second half before Alex Elliott struck a consolation for the visitors.

Town’s five-goal lead was restored just six minutes later when Facey acrobatically converted a Ben Thornton cross.

It is the turn of neighbours Farsley Celtic tonight as they travel to newcomers Glossop North End.

The Derbyshire outfit came up as North West Counties League Premier Division champions and have soon settled.

The home side go into the game in second place, unbeaten in their opening six games, having scored 15 goals and conceded only one.

The Celts, meanwhile, are still seeking their first victory after five games and have found the net just twice.

Thackley are also on the road as they face the long journey north to take on Whickham in an FA Vase first-qualifying round replay.

The Dennyboys were held to a goalless draw, after extra-time, on their own patch at the weekend.

The replay kicks off at 8pm to assist the travelling club and it will reach a conclusion on the night.
