TONIGHT'S Evo-Stik League Cup final at Stockport County’s Edgeley Park was settled on penalties as Farsley lost to Warrington Town.

Skipper Rob O’Brien and Adam Priestley were on target for the Villagers, while Andy Welsh hit the post as Warrington won 3-2 after it remained goalless following extra-time.

The hero was Yellows keeper Karl Wills as he saved Aiden Savory’s crucial last spot-kick.

The chances were limited in an even first half. Farsley’s goal attempts came from Lewis Nightingale, who failed to beat the Yellows keeper at his near post, and Kyle Hancock from a long-range free-kick.

Warrington came closest to breaking the deadlock when Louis Corrigan’s free-kick was tipped over by Farsley’s Tom Taylor.

The keeper had to be on top form after the break. Taylor saved a Corrigan free-kick and a Stephen Tames header before Craig Robinson glanced just wide from a corner. Ironically, Farsley’s best chance fell to Savory in the 65th minute but he shot over.
