ROSS Daly feels Evo-Stik League Division One North is the strongest it has been for many seasons.

But the Farsley midfielder insists everyone at the club is determined to reach the play-offs and have real tilt at promotion.

"Obviously we had a fair start, and it has been a good season so far, but there are 11 games to go and the aim is the play-offs," said Daly.

"It will be tough because there are some big teams in this league this year. There's Darlington and you've got Salford now and Spennymoor. They are all big clubs paying out big money and getting the rewards.

"It's definitely stronger than last season, and probably for as long as I can remember, but on our day we're as good as anyone."

Daly points to the management team of Neil Parsley and Mark Jackson as the reason why eighth-placed Farsley are up there challenging the big boys.

But he admits that consistency from the players is the key to determining whether the club achieve their aims this term.

Daly said: "Pars and Jacko are doing a great job. They have put a strong squad together and they know how to get the best out us.

"They know how to mix things up, how to play against each opponent and how to get results. It's all about consistency now, so that means it's us who have to deliver.

"We have done well against the top sides – we took four points off Darlington, six off Droylsden and have beaten Northwich Victoria.

"We were unfortunate not to get something at Spennymoor on Tuesday. We more than matched them and could have come away with three points but lost 1-0. We have to go to Ossett Albion this weekend and put the same effort in.

"If anything we have let ourselves down against the teams lower in the table – but you see that at every level. Look at Chelsea losing at home to Bradford City. It shouldn't happen but it does.

"We've lost to Padiham, New Mills and Brighouse Town in games like it will be at Ossett. It'll be a battle and we have to be ready.

"You've got to motivate yourself, prepare well and get the mindset right because if you don't, you will get punished at this level."
