SOME familiar faces from the past will be appearing at Throstle Nest soon with a team of former Leeds United stars due to play in a benefit match for former Whites skipper Brendan Ormsby.

Farsley boss Neil Parsley is a former Leeds United players and he is putting together a side from his old club. Two of the club legends that will be in the side have also managed the Championship club, Gary McAllister and Simon Grayson.

Also confirmed to play are the former Guiseley and Eccleshill boss Bobby Davison, Ian Baird, John Newsome and Gary Kelly. There are rumours that they could be joined by Andy Couzens, Glyn Snodin and even David Batty.

Ormsby suffered a stroke in 2013 and was initially told he would not walk again but he continues to display the courage, spirit and determination he had as a player. Last summer he completed a 10k race.

Parsley is playing a big part in the organisation of the match in aid of his good friend and more details will emerge in the coming days. There is still a lot of planning to do and ticket prices are yet to be set.

Farsley’s dubious reward for Tuesday’s victory in the last eight of the Evo-Stik League Cup is an away draw against Premier Division side Ramsbottom United on Wednesday, April 8.
