FARSLEY came back from a two-goal half-time deficit to romp to a 4-2 victory at Throstle Nest over Harrogate Railway Athletic in a fiercely contested Evo-Stik First Division North derby.

With both clubs having promotion aspirations, it was always going to a big game and it lived up to its billing.

Farsley started well, with Spencer Harris, Adam Priestley and recent signing Andy Welsh all going close.

However, it was the visitors who stole the initiative with two goals in a five-minute spell midway through the first half.

Mike Morris hit the opener from close range and Robbie Youhill added Railway’s second after seizing possession on the halfway line and bursting through.

The visitors took their lead into the break but Farsley halved the deficit with their first serious attack of the second half. The Railway defence failed to clear the ball in their own area and midfielder Welsh, who was with League One Scunthorpe United last season, pounced to open his account for his new club.

Harrogate’s first scorer Morris suffered a bad injury on the hour mark and was stretchered off, holding the game up for five minutes before he was whisked off to hospital with a suspected broken leg.

Farsley levelled minutes later when Adam Priestley’s well-hit strike from distance nestled in the Railway net.

The home side were much better in the second half with the wind in their favour and they edged in front through Lewis Nightingale before Aiden Savory put the gloss on their win with a fourth in the final minute.

Neil Parsley’s men missed out on regaining a place in the play-off zone as Scarborough Athletic enjoyed a 4-0 home win over BRIGHOUSE TOWN.

The Seadogs bagged a brace in each half and fifth spot to go with it as they strolled to victory.

Gary Bradshaw broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute and Alex Peterson netted two minutes later.

Town boss Pual Quinn made a double substitution midway through the second half, with Danny Hull and Isaak Baldwin replacing Kurtis Harris and Tyrone Gay, but it was to no avail.

James Ghaichem and former Bradford Park Avenue man Jimmy Beadle netted for the home side.

Town were even denied a late consolation after Ernest Boafo had been fouled in the area. Hall’s penalty was saved.
