THERE is a lot at stake at Throstle Nest tomorrow as fifth-placed Farsley host the club immediately below them in Evo-Stik First Division North.

Bamber Bridge are looking to replace Neil Parsley’s men in the play-off places, while Farsley need a victory as the Preston-based outfit are only two points worse off and have a game in hand.

The battle for promotion is hotting up, with the top six showing signs of pulling away.

Bamber have a three-point cushion over the club directly below them, while six points separate the six clubs in that leading pack.

Farsley go into the clash on a high after their midweek League Cup win over Premier Division high-flyers Curzon Ashton.

Parsley’s men came from 2-0 down to draw in the 90 minutes and then won a thrilling penalty shoot-out.

Skipper Rob O’Brien kept his nerve to hit Farsley’s first after Curzon had netted. Tom Taylor then saved Curzon’s second but Adam Priestley then hit a post.

Curzon’s third went over the bar, while Lewis Nightingale, Aiden Savory and Spencer Harris were all successful to take Farsley through.

Northwich Victoria are another club right in the mix, and they host in-form Brighouse Town, who are seeking the win that could see them leap into the top ten.

Paul Quinn’s men are unbeaten in their last five league games, and the last three of those have been victories.

They had won four in a six-game unbeaten run in all competitions before Tuesday’s League Cup defeat.

While Farsley were victorious from the spot, Town suffered the opposite emotion of a penalty shoot-out which was every bit as dramatic as the one at Throstle Nest.

Town netted a late equaliser to draw 1-1 with Spennymoor Town. The clubs were still level after the regulation five penalties, so it went to sudden death and the result went against Brighouse.
