Farsley 2, Prescot Cables 1

FARSLEY needed two late goals to secure maximum Evo-Stik League points from the visit of struggling Prescot Cables.

The Cables are third from bottom in Division One North but they belied their lowly placing with a spirited display.

The visitors dominated spells in the first half and took a surprise lead through Jack Phillips just before the half-hour mark.

Lewis Nightingale and Aiden Savory had the best two chances for Farsley in the first half and it was Nightingale who troubled the visiting keeper twice after the break.

Defender James Riley replaced Ryan Serrant and he almost levelled but headed wide from a Matt Dempsey cross.

Dempsey was involved in the equaliser as he headed a corner back into the danger zone for Spencer Harris to head home.

That was just over two minutes from time – but it was just the beginning of the late drama.

Fittingly it was Nightingale who struck the injury-time winner that lifted Farsley two places back up to sixth in the table.

Farsley boss Neil Parsley said: "It was pleasing to see and a welcome result. I thought it was a deserved result but we were not at our best.

"In the second half we had plenty of possession without having clear-cut chances but our perseverance paid dividends."
