FARSLEY dropped out of the play-off places in Evo-Stik Division One North in midweek but could reclaim second spot with a win on Saturday if other results go their way.

Neil Parsley’s men lost their place in the top five after Darlington 1883’s win over Harrogate Railway on Tuesday.

However, it is so tight at the top that sixth-placed Farsley are only two points behind Darlington and have two games in hand.

They head across the Pennines to take on mid-table Radcliffe Borough, who are in the middle of a group of five clubs on 11 points.

Bottom of that quintet are Brighouse Town, and the best of those clubs locked on the same points are Lancaster City.

Brighouse travel to Lancaster’s Giant Axe ground, so there is likely to be a seismic change in league positions by tea-time on Saturday.

Town have an identical record to their hosts – played eight, won three, drawn two, lost two – and have scored almost as many goals but have conceded far more.

Town beat Prescot Cables 6-3 last time out, and two of Prescot’s goals were scored after 90 minutes, highlighting Brighouse's defensive frailties.

That is something that troubled Thackley in midweek as they went down 9-0 at Shaw Lane Aquaforce in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

The Dennyboys will still be smarting from that humbling when they host Glasshoughton Welfare.

The Dennyboys’ visitors are third from bottom but only two points behind and they have two games in hand, so Thackley need to snap out of their recent malaise.

In the lower tier of that league, Eccleshill United will be looking for a ninth straight victory when they journey to Shirebrook Town. The Eagles lost their first two league games of the season and drew their third but have not dropped a point since.

That run has lifted them up to third but Shirebrook are handily placed themselves in ninth, so will provide a stern test.
