FARSLEY are back in training tonight and their two new signings are ready for the off.

Boss Neil Parsley swooped to sign Marcus Edwards from Eccleshill United and the promising Lewis Morgan from Thackley.

Edwards was Northern Counties East League's Division One’s top scorer last season, while Morgan broke into the side at Northern Counties East League Premier Division outfit Thackley.

Morgan is looking forward to starting a new chapter with Farsley AFC after impressing Mark Jackson, one of Parsley’s two assistant managers.

Jackson knows the player well and tried to bring him to Throstle Nest after working with him at a school academy.

Morgan said: “Jacko understands the game inside out, and I'm looking forward to working with him again.

"I really believe that he can improve my game and take me far. Neil Parsley also really sold the club to me and he holds the same beliefs as Jacko.

"I played about the first four games for Thackley at centre half but then was moved to the centre of midfield. I know that it has been commented that I have been brought in for the defence, but I will just be happy to slot in wherever needed. I do feel the central positions are my best and I will be happy to play either.

"I'm really looking forward to the start of pre-season training. I know a few of the lads, including Matt Dempsey, who I trained with when he was recovering from injury last summer. I really can’t wait to get started.”

Farsley have added a fifth friendly fixture and are working on one more.

As is stands their pre-season schedule is: Tuesday, July 22 Glasshoughton Welfare (a); Saturday, July 26, Albion Sports (h); Monday, July 28 Hemsworth MW (a); Wednesday, July 30 Garforth Town (a); Saturday, August 2, Guiseley (a).
