Warrington Town 0, Farsley 0

Farsley earned a good point from a difficult away game but still dropped a place in the Evo-Stik League Division One North table.

They were third going into this promotion battle at second-placed Warrington Town but slipped to fourth after Darlington 1883 won to climb above them. Neil Parsley’s men are still very much in the race though.

Farsley keeper Tom Morgan made some good saves but his opposite number was also tested and he made a fine stop from a Paddy Miller free-kick. Visiting skipper Rob O’Brien also saw a free-kick well saved.

The home side hit back to create openings but the first half ended goalless, as did the game – but Farsley came very close to winning it.

Ten minutes into the second half, midfielder Ross Daly saw his effort from an Aaron Hardy free-kick hit the bar.

Dempsey was picked out by a later set-piece but headed straight at the home keeper, while O’Brien put a very difficult chance over the target.

The last chance for Parsley’s side was when Dempsey fired wide from a direct free-kick.

Parsley said: “It was hard-earned but the minimum we deserved was a point. It was a dogged and workmanlike performance that on another afternoon could have turned into three.

“The longer the game went on, the more we got into it, and we finished strongly but didn’t get the goal.

“Our best chances came from free-kicks but I’m satisfied with a point and we have no new injuries, so it sets us in good stead for (leaders) Curzon Ashton next Saturday.”
