Farsley 3, Mossley 0

Farsley consolidated second place in Division One North with a comfortable home Evo-Stik League victory.

Neil Parsley’s men had claimed the runners-up spot the previous week with a narrow and unconvincing win. But they defended it in style as they cut through visitors Mossley almost at will.

They got the game in a stranglehold with two goals inside the first half hour.

Adam Priestley broke the deadlock after the visiting keeper could only parry an Aiden Savory shot.

Matt Dempsey then headed home Farsley’s second, from a Rob O’Brien free-kick, and Savory wrapped up the scoring with the only goal of the second half when he shot on the turn following good work from Matty James.

It was Farsley’s sixth consecutive league win and delighted boss Parsley said: “It was an excellent victory and we played really well, so it was a deserved one.

“Mossley were very physical and made it difficult for us but they caught us on a good day.

“Our defence was marshalled by Dempsey, who played really well. He has hit a rich vein of form which has coincided with our run of wins.

“If anything, 3-0 doesn’t reflect our dominance of the game and it could have been seven or eight.

“We were totally different to last week, so to win as comprehensively as we did is good for the confidence of the boys.”
