Farsley stunned by home defeat to strugglers
Farsley 1, Burscough 2
Farsley were beaten at home by a Burscough side battling to get out of the Evo-Stik League Division One North relegation zone.
The game kicked off 15 minutes late because Burscough were held up in traffic on their journey from Lancashire.
But the visitors started well and home keeper Ben Higginson had to be alert to make a block which prevented them opening the scoring.
Burscough did get their early lead though, with Mark Beesley on target in the 13th minute, but Farsley got back into the game after the break.
Ryan Serrant had returned to the side after a one-game suspension and he set up Danny Hull for the equaliser just after the hour mark.
But Conor Roberts hit Burscough’s winner a little over 15 minutes from time and this lifted them to third bottom, while their hosts remain third at the other end of the table.
Throstle Nest will see some more action tomorrow night as tenants Albion Sports take on Winterton Rangers at home in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League.
Mid-table Albion will be looking for the points to boost their confidence after slipping out of the Premier Division top half.
Winterton are a lowly 19th, having banked just a dozen points, so Albion – who are fresh from a free weekend – will be going all out for a much-needed win.
Silsden should also have a home game but they are on weather watch ahead of Bacup & Rossendale Borough’s trip to the Angel Telecom Stadium for a North West Counties League Premier Division clash.
The Cobbydalers were at home in the League Cup at the weekend and the pitch took some punishment. Any further rain tomorrow could put tonight’s game in doubt.
