Farsley suffer another setback after missing their chances at Salford

Farsley’s play-off hopes suffered another blow as they slipped to a second successive away defeat in the Evo-Stik Division One North.

Following a demoralising 3-2 loss to an injury-time goal at Curzon Ashton, Neil Parsley’s men were culpable in their 2-0 reverse at Salford.

Farsley should have had a commanding lead by half time but didn’t take their chances.

The visitors also had the early chances after the interval but Salford broke the deadlock when a corner just after the hour was not cleared and Nathan Taylor pounced to net with a low shot.

Taylor was involved 15 minutes later when the home side doubled their lead. He slipped the offside trap and put in a low centre that Chris Monaghan slotted in from point-blank range.

Salford keeper Ritchie Branagan had pulled off some excellent saves in the first half, notably to deny Steve Mallory and Rob O’Brien, as Farsley did all of the pressing.

Even after going two goals down, substitute Ryan Harrison, Matt Dempsey and James Riley all missed chances.
