Eccleshill United
Eagles back to square one
Eccleshill 0 Long Eaton 2
The expectancy following the previous week's Northern Counties East League draw at
promotion-chasing neighbours Liversedge gave way to head-holding and hand-wringing at Plumpton Park once more.
A poor display brought nothing other than a deserved defeat and the Eagles were back to square one. They are not exactly in freefall but they have been in a steady tailspin and will be
seeking a change in fortune at Arnold Town tonight.
The 13th minute was not unlucky for Long Eaton as they took the lead when an effort from Alex Steadman found its way through. Channon North made it 2-0 for the visitors just after the hour mark.
Eagles club secretary Paul Jarvis said: "They were sloppy goals to give away. We huffed and puffed in the second half but had nothing to show for it. Andy Howland had one chance and Ben Hardy had a couple but the first half was forgettable."
