Eagles hit the road for big test

Two of Bradford's three representatives in the Northern Counties East Premier Division have home advantage on Saturday, leaving Eccleshill with the toughest task of the three.

Not only are ECCLESHILL on the road but their hosts are Winterton Rangers, who have an 11-point cushion at the summit. They have played two games more than second-placed Glapwell but it still an impressive total.

Eagles boss Mick Watson said: "They are the best team in our division by a long way - but we have kept clean sheets in our last two games, taken four points and we are looking forward to it.

"We are under no illusions, we know we are going to have to defend very well against them, but theirs is the best pitch in the league by a million miles and we want to go and play on it, so it won't be all sitting back."

Watson has several doubts and has named a 20-man squad, with Cameron Kerin definitely out after cracking a rib in the goalless draw at home to Glasshoughton Welfare last weekend.

Vice-captain Stuart Waite (ankle), Scott Price (knee), Gary Birchill, Danny Ferrand and John Lamb (all work commitments) are doubtful and United have also lost midfielder Chris Rosindale to UniBond League outfit Harrogate Railway.

LIVERSEDGE remain third despite three league games on the trot without a win and they intend to end that statistic with a home victory at the expense of Glapwell in a six-pointer'.

Sedge would overhaul their fellow high-fliers with a win and manager Steve Newton said: "I've been talking to a couple of players this week and I hope they will sign in time to play.

"No names as yet but one is a player I have had my eye on for a while, while the other is at a club higher up the ladder but he isn't getting games. We are waiting on a decision from his club and if they don't want to pick him then we will."

THACKLEY host fifth-placed Hallam and head coach John Boyle is also awaiting signatures on two transfer forms before finalising his squad.

Boyle said: "There are a couple of very exciting new signings lined up. They should be with us by Saturday and if they are they will be in the squad.

"But we have lost Joel Etienne (club captain, due to a groin strain) and James Firth (two weeks out with bruised foot) will not be back."
