Eagles hoping to soar again
ECCLESHILL will look to end their recent run of poor results when struggling South Normanton Athletic visit Plumpton Park in the Northern Counties East Premier Division on Saturday.
Untied have plummeted down the table after a promising start to the season but boss Mick Watson believes they have what it takes to turn the situation around and regain credibility before the campaign ends.
"I'm full of the joys of spring and so is Andy (number two Patterson) because if we can't lift ourselves, how could we be expected to raise the spirits of the players?" said Watson.
"We didn't play well at Parkgate last time out but we didn't deserve to lose and the two games prior to that were good performances. We missed out on a game in midweek because of the rain but that has given certain players time to rest niggling injuries.
"At Parkgate we lost our confidence on the pitch after one individual error and basically that has been the story of the last two months - but as long as we continue to work hard we will get the fortune that favours the brave.
"Danny Ferrand has recovered from injury and he would have made a comeback on Tuesday if it had been on. Andy Philp is back from holiday and Scott Price returned from suspension to be involved on the bench for the last game.
"We have experience coming back into the squad with those three and it makes us a lot stronger."
LIVERSEDGE also suffered a postponement in midweek and that cost them the chance to return to second spot. They host mid-table Arnold Town this weekend, hoping to build on last Saturday's 3-1 win at Mickleover Sports.
Even a draw could lift them above second-placed Glapwell, with Sedge only third on goal difference.
THACKLEY are just above Eccleshill's visitors South Normanton but could leapfrog hosts Maltby Main with a victory.
Manager John Boyle is confident his side will show a significant improvement in league placing as the season enters its final third.
