Celts seek alternative cup progress
 |
| Farsley midfielder James Knowles picked up a knock against York |
FARSLEY were dumped out of one cup competition at home on Sunday but they will be aiming to progress in another tomorrow night despite having been drawn away.
The Celts make the short journey to Manchester to take on struggling Droylsden in the fourth round of the Setanta Shield, the Conference League Cup named after the television company that covers the Blue Square leagues.
Farsley will have to bounce back from their weekend defeat in the FA Trophy, when they were unfortunate to lose 2-0 against York.
Droylsden have a bigger obstacle to overcome to regain confidence as they were dumped out in an 8-0 mauling at Crawley.
Celts boss John Deacey will have players back who were cup-tied but he is waiting on injury reports.
Skipper Amjad Iqbal should be passed fit, despite having stitches in a face wound during the York tie, but midfielder James Knowles could be a doubt after being substituted in the second half.
GUISELEY are also in knockout action tomorrow but they have home advantage as Eastwood Town visit in the UniBond League Challenge Cup fourth round.
Manager Steve Kittrick faces the alternate side of the coin from his counterpart Deacey, with the Nethermoor squad losing players due to being cup-tied.
Kittrick has brought in several recent signings and the mix is working, Guiseley banking another three points in the UniBond Premier Division at the weekend.
That gave them nine from their last three games, reigniting their push for promotion, and Kittrick wants the winning run to extend to the cup.
Both Liversedge and Eccleshill United are also at home in the Northern Counties East Premier Division, Sedge taking on Shirebrook Town while the Eagles host Pickering Town.
LIVERSEDGE heeded the call from boss Steve Newton before the weekend to get back to winning ways.
They had gone eight games without defeat but had drawn their last three before Saturday's 3-1 victory at Mickleover Sports.
That reaffirmed their promotion credentials and they will be looking for more points tomorrow.
ECCLESHILL would welcome even a draw at the moment after a poor run but they will need to be at their best to take anything against fourth-placed Pickering.
United have Danny Ferrand back from long-term injury but will lose three of their younger players - James Gorman, Marcus Edwards and Luke Ruff - as they are required for an under-19s fixture on Wednesday.
