Sanasy targets Silsden success
Former Bantams and Park Avenue forward Kevin Sanasy will be hoping to continue his good start with new club Silsden on Saturday.
Silsden spokesman Jim Rosser said: “Kevin is a local lad and a super player. He was in midfield for us and he made a big difference.
“He comes in but Joe Gaughan has gone to Brighouse Town.”
Wednesday’s victory saw Silsden climb to ninth in the North West Counties League Premier Division.
Saturday's game kicks off at 2pm to enable the club to prepare for an evening function at which Jan Molby is guest speaker.
Brighouse Town are the highest of the area’s three clubs in the Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division and the fourth-placed outfit will be looking for their fourth league win on the trot when they welcome struggling Maltby Main.
Thackley are also well placed in eighth but face a huge test at leaders Bridlington Town. However, Vince Brockie’s men will have no fear as they turned second-placed Scarborough Athletic over last weekend in the FA Vase.
Liversedge are in for a mid-table battle as they head to Pickering Town. Sedge’s hosts won at Maltby in midweek, meaning they would leapfrog the West Yorkshire side with victory at the weekend.
In the lower tier, Eccleshill United host Hemsworth MW in what will be a clash of clubs under caretaker managers. Dai Jones is looking after the Eagles as they seek a full-time successor to Ian Banks, while former Bradford Park Avenue skipper Wayne Benn quit Hemsworth after last Saturday’s game.
Benn, who began his playing career with the Bantams, has moved on to the hot-seat at Evo-Stik League outfit Goole AFC.
Albion Sports romped to a 5-1 home win over basement outfit Appleby Frodingham in midweek so will be looking forward to their journey to Teversal.
Boss Kulwinder Sandhu said: “There were no injuries so it should be more or less the same squad. We are looking for a bit of consistency.”
