Thackley involved in title decider
Thackley can play a key role in the destination of the Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division title tomorrow night.
Second-placed hosts Retford United are looking for the win that will see them snatch the crown in their final game.
Retford are currently two points adrift of leaders Bridlington Town, who have already completed their fixtures.
Thackley boss Vince Brockie had been hoping to rest players ahead of the League Cup final next Monday but had to revise those plans due to this match being postponed last week.
Spokesman Mick Lodge said: “Vinny gathered the players in the dressing room after Saturday’s game and told them that he will be putting his strongest team out tonight.
“He told them that if he didn’t it would be unfair on all the other clubs in the league, not just Bridlington.”
Brockie’s squad will be playing for places in the starting line-up for the cup final against Shirebrook Town.
They will also be aware that a win would lift the Dennyboys back into the top eight to earn qualification for next season’s President’s Cup, albeit temporarily as eighth-placed rivals Tadcaster Albion still have their last game to play.
Another rearranged fixture sees Eccleshill UNITED travelling to take on Division One basement outfit Appleby Frodingham.
The Eagles are already guaranteed a top-eight finish, which means they have qualified for next season’s FA Cup and FA Vase – but they would claim sixth place at the expense of Rossington Main with victory tomorrow.
Another side issue is that there are three Eccleshill players battling to finish second-top scorer behind Marcus Edwards.
Andy Howland, Andy Fieldhouse and Charlie Flaherty are locked on 11 goals behind Edwards, who has netted 28 in all competitions.
