Following the appointment of Steve Watson as first-team manager, Eccleshill United have now settled the backroom staff for the reserve and under-19s teams.
The club felt it was important to tie up the coaching personnel as they build towards trying to regain their Northern Counties East League Premier Division status.
Eagles club secretary Mark Holstead explained: “We have appointed Dave Heaney to work with Adrian Benson, Andy Bell and myself.
“Dave was assistant to Ray (Price) last season and gained valuable experience at first-team level.
“Steve will want to bring his own number two in with him but we didn’t want to lose Dave.
“We felt he could come in and play a vital role with us, especially bringing on the new crop of young players in the reserves and Academy.
“Dave is excited by the challenge and will be an integral part of the club set-up.”
Watson is scouring the leagues for fresh talent to add to the inexperienced squad that Price was left when he came in to do a fire-fighting job last season.
It proved too difficult a task as the Eagles finished bottom of the Premier Division and were relegated as a result.
Holstead said: “We are in talks with Steve at the moment about bringing players in and getting a good pre-season.
“We need to compete in the first division this coming season but no one at the club is setting any targets.
“We are looking to Steve to push the club forward and make us into a force again. He is an excellent talker and motivator and we think he is the right man.
“I hope this second spell will be a long and successful tenure for Steve.
“He is a smashing fellow and a lot of the people at the club remember him from his first spell in charge and are right behind him. Steve is an Eccleshill lad and I think he has a love for the club.”
