ECCLESHILL defender Scott Manning is back home after suffering a double leg break in his side's play-off final win at Grimsby Borough.

Saturday's game was held up for almost an hour as the left back sustained a broken fibula and tibia in the Northern Counties East League promotion decider, which Eccleshill won 3-2.

Manning was taken to hospital in Grimsby where he has been receiving treatment before being discharged yesterday.

A club statement read: "Scott Manning got back home from Grimsby at 5.30pm today (Tuesday) to his wife Katie and little boy Alex.

"He has broken his fibula and tibia, and the bottom of his leg has shattered.

"The bone is still in line so as it stands, he doesn't need an operation thankfully.

"He has had a new pot fitted as the first one was too tight and is feeling much better at the moment.

"Thank you all for your concern at this difficult time for Scott, and we're sure you'd all like to join us when we wish the left back the speediest of recoveries."
