ECCLESHILL United boss Sean Regan has said that his side are “raring to go” for their play-off semi-final with Shirebrook Town tonight.

The Eagles head into their home clash after a 4-2 defeat to Yorkshire Amateur which cost them an automatic promotion spot in Division One of the Northern Counties Eastern League.

This will be the third meeting of the campaign between Eccleshill and Shirebrook, with both sides having claimed victory earlier this term.

Regan, whose side's defeat to Yorkshire came on April 30, has said that he is happy to have had time to work with his side.

“We know what to expect from Shirebrook and we’ll adapt for it,” the manager said. “We’re excited for this and it’s been good to get a number of sessions in with the lads. Now we’re raring to go.

“We need to concentrate on our own game and if we play as confidently as we feel, I’m sure we’ll come away with a result.”

Eccleshill striker Luke Harrop has netted 24 times for the Eagles this season, but Regan feels that the forward's tally is a product of the hard work throughout the team.

“We’ve felt good going into every game this season, and we have a talented bunch of lads who know what they’re capable of,” he said.

“There are goals throughout this team and it’s not necessarily about one of the lads doing all the work. Players like Jonny Irving and Antony Brown have scored and have been important.

“If all our players are on the top of their games, we can get goals from anywhere.”

As well as going forward, Regan added that his squad must work hard to prevent mishaps at the back.

“It’s important to concentrate on the other parts of the team,” he said. “We need to be collectively organised in and out of possession and everyone needs to work hard for each other.”

Should Eccleshill claim victory over Shirebrook, they will face either Grimsby Borough or Glasshoughton Welfare in the final.
