In the latest tie involving local sides in the West Riding County Cup,  Campion booked themselves a home quarter-final with higher-ranking Farsley Celtic.

In a close second-round derby tie at Throstle Nest against Albion Sports, who are a division higher in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League, James Bicknell’s men came from a goal down to level and won through in a penalty shoot-out.

Josh Morley had given the Lions the lead on the half-hour but Aidan Day equalised in the 61st minute to take the tie to penalties.

Campion scored five to Albion’s three.

There was also league action last night as Eccleshill United maintained their quest for an automatic promotion place in the NCEL Division One with a 3-0 home win over mid-table Rossington Main.

The Eagles are outside the top two on goal difference only after banking a 12th win from their last 13 league games.

Andy Cooper hit the only goal of the first half, while skipper Sam Bradley and Matt Mathers netted late strikes to seal a comfortable win.
