ALBION Sports rolled into the second round of the West Riding County Cup last night, but they took a while to build a head of steam to finally see off the Rail.

Albion, who had home advantage over Harrogate Railway Athletic, didn't score until the 69th minute to break the deadlock against their Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division counterparts, and even then it stemmed from a mistake.

A weak clearance from a Rail defender fell kindly for Lions striker Lamin Janneh at Throstle Nest, and he tucked the chance away.

Minutes later, Albion doubled their lead as the visitors hesitated.

They were expecting a flag or a whistle but Redmond Lee seized the moment and scored.

He also netted minutes later to bag a brace, and Alex Cusack wrapped up the scoring six minutes from time as the Lions ran out 4-0 winners.

There will be no run in the competition for Eccleshill United though as they fell at the first hurdle.

The Eagles had also landed a home tie but asked opponents Yorkshire Amateur for a switch of venue.

The Ammers agreed and were rewarded as they progressed after a 2-0 win.

Former Liversedge man Harrison Blakey put the Ammers in front early on, and T’nique Fishley slotted in a loose ball ten minutes into the second half after Eccleshill’s keeper Dom Smith could only parry a shot.

Eagles’ striker Chris Lever struck the crossbar with a header in the first half, and they had a strong penalty claim late on in a dour game on a cold and wet autumn evening.
