THE road to Wembley is already over for Thackley after they lost a see saw extra-preliminary round tie at home to league rivals Harrogate Railway Athletic.

Following a goalless first half, The Dennyboys went ahead thanks to an own goal, Ryan Bassi the unfortunate party. They doubled their lead midway through the second half through Joe Hughes.

The Rail hit back almost immediately and then levelled minutes later as Elliott Williams hit a quick-fire brace.

The visitors were in front for the first time when Michael O’Connor struck but the home side equalised through George Eustance before the Rail had the last word.

Harrogate are in the next round thanks to Luke Stewart’s 88th minute winner at Dennyfield.

ALBION SPORTS went through with a straightforward 2-0 win over Lancashire outfit Nelson at Throstle Nest.

Nelson play their football in the North West Counties Division One so are a step lower on the non-league ladder.

The Lions had the game wrapped up inside the opening quarter hour. Omar Habeeb gave the home side a sixth minute lead and Danny Facey netted soon after.

LIVERSEDGE are still in the competition but they face a home replay on Tuesday to be confirmed in the preliminary round after being held to a 1-1 draw at Armthorpe Welfare.

Sedge took a slender lead into the break after Roy Fogarty scored the only goal of the first half just before the half hour mark. The Welfare levelled the tie through Will Ramsey midway through the second half to earn themselves a second bite.

That replay means Sedge’s Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division home game against Worksop Town is shelved, and Armthorpe were due to host Eccleshill United in Division One so that game is also postponed.

ECCLESHILL kicked off their league campaign with a hard-earned point from a 3-3 draw at Yorkshire Amateur.

The Eagles were flying high with a 2-0 lead as half-time approached, Luke Harrop bagging a first-half brace.

But the Leeds based side clawed a goal back on the stroke of half-time through Ashley Flynn and a second from the prolific striker levelled the game before the Ammers went in front through Luke Sharry.

The Eagles snatched a draw thanks to an 88th minute strike from Jonathan Irvine.

CAMPION also picked up a point on the opening day of the season courtesy of a draw away from home.

James Bicknell’s men were also in front by half-time, Danny Stocker on target, but hosts Rossington Main equalised through Jason Stokes.
