ECCLESHILL United twice let a lead slip at home to Rossington Main – but a 2-2 draw lifted them back into the top ten of Toolstation Northern Counties East League Division One.

The hosts took a tenth minute lead following a good move started in their own half.

The ball was worked to Alex Cusack and he flew down the wing before netting a shot across the face that took a slight deflection.

Rossington’s Lee Holmes levelled on the half hour but the Eagles hit back within 90 seconds.

It was Cusack again as he slotted in his second from point-blank range at the far post after a superb run and cross by left back Scott Manning.

Rossington picked up the pace after break and Holmes produced the equaliser in the 62nd minute, stabbing in from close range after the home defence failed to deal with a good ball whipped into the area.

Local rivals Campion fared better with a 2-0 away win at fellow newcomers Ollerton Town.

Second-half goals from Matty James and Talent Ndlovu gave James Bicknell’s men a maximum that keeps them in eighth place.

There was no joy for two of the three local sides in the Premier Division as Albion Sports and Liversedge both suffered away defeats while Thackley’s away game was postponed.

Albion were hit by a late sucker punch at Maltby Main. The home side went in front early when Lewis Bemrose was fouled in the area and he despatched the seventh-minute penalty.

The Albion Lions finally got on terms through Michael O’Brien’s 74th minute strike but the home side snatched all three points when Steve Hopewell made it 2-1 with less than five minutes remaining.

Albion dropped one place to seventh and Liversedge remain immediately below them as they also lost a place in the table following a 2-0 defeat at Garforth Town.

The home side had to be patient but Sean Hunter put them in front in the 70th minute and Mark Simpson added a last minute goal.

Thackley’s trip to Handsworth Parramore was off because the home side’s dressing room floors are causing health and safety concerns.

Silsden’s revival in Division One of the Hallmark Security League was stalled at second-placed City of Liverpool.

The Cobbydalers took a lead into the break after Danny Bunch scored the only goal of the first half but the home side hit back through John Connolly and Matthew Williams.

Farsley Celtic consolidated their second place in Division One North of the Evo-Stik League with a 3-1 roses battle victory at Clitheroe.

The Celts were a goal to the good at half time as James Walshaw’s recent hot streak continued.

The contest was over when Farsley hit two goals in three minutes midway through the second half.

Walshaw bagged his brace and Ryan Watson added the Celts’ third before Kurt Willoughby netted a late consolation as Clitheroe dropped out of the play-off places.

Brighouse Town were held to their 12th stalemate of the season when basement outfit Burscough came from a goal down to bank a point at the Dual Seal Stadium.

Adam Baker had given Town a half time lead but Adam Gilchrist netted an equaliser.
