Eccleshill United 4 Hall Road Rangers 3

Eccleshill United snatched a last-minute winner to earn three points from a seven-goal thriller at the Mitton Group Stadium last night.

The Eagles moved up one place to 14th in the early Toolstation Northern Counties East Division One table thanks to leading scorer Luke Harrop’s late strike as he and man of the match Adam Turner bagged a brace apiece.

Turner was the provider when his cross was headed in by Harrop as the home side opened the scoring against Hall Road Rangers midway through the first half. The visitors equalised through Jonny Blakestone on the stroke of half-time.

Eccleshill were back in front six minutes into the second half when Turner netted from close range to convert an Ashley Slater cross. Eagles keeper James Beck contributed soon after when he did well to turn a good effort from the visitors onto his crossbar.

The visitors didn’t have long to wait for their equaliser, Darren Rookes drilling in a direct free-kick, and just two minutes later they were in front for the first time as Blakestone added his second of the night.

Eccleshill were never out of the game though, and they were level again when Turner drilled high into the net 11 minutes from time before Harrop netted the all important winner.
