ECCLESHILL United are eyeing a welcome period of calm after an up-and-down couple of weeks.

It has been a rocky road for former Liversedge assistant boss Mark Greaves since he took the Eagles job in the close season.

Greaves and his assistants, Sean Regan and Hayden Lobley, had to bring in a lot of players and he has been pleased with the quality in his squad.

"We haven't had a settled side but the lads who are coming in are turning up and putting a real shift in," said Greaves.

"We've had some good results and a couple of bad ones but I'm surprised we've done so well in certain games. There were three lads away at a wedding one week and a couple off on holidays here and there as well.

"For one of the games we only had 13 players available – and one of the two substitutes we had was a keeper. As I recall, we got a good result that day, so I was very pleased with that one."

Greaves is still building his squad and is encouraged as the young players gain experience with every game. He has added two new faces and is still targeting more.

He said: "Barry Rothera has joined us. I had him with me before at other clubs, so I know what I'm getting with him. He got in touch with us and, after speaking with us, he wanted to get on board.

"Another newcomer is Ashley Slater, who we're also very glad to have at the club.

"So we've got two new recruits to add to the squad and – when we've got everybody back from holidays, weddings, stag do's and injuries – I believe we'll have a very strong side."
