Eccleshill United 1, Bottesford Town 3
ECCLESHILL United crashed back to earth after their 9-1 home victory at the weekend as they lost to a powerful and skilful Bottesford Town side at the Mitton Group Stadium last night.
Andy Cooper headed into the top corner following a free-kick for the home side but that was five minutes from time and a mere consolation goal.
The visitors had begun well and took a lead into the half-time break after Martin Pemberton netted a neat near-post volley to convert a corner kick.
Eccleshill were brighter after the interval but Bottesford came back to double their lead when Steve Ridley netted a superb strike from distance.
The Eagles still threatened a comeback, and manager Mark Greaves made changes from the bench to freshen up his side.
However, the visitors made it 3-0 with a goal from a swift counter-attack. After being under pressure, they broke away and Terry Barwick ended the move in style when he fired into the top corner of home keeper Joe Stead’s net.
