THERE were five goals in each half at the Mitton Group Stadium – and it was home side Eccleshill United who plundered the vast majority as they inflicted a crushing 9-1 Northern Counties East League defeat on Grimsby Borough.

The Eagles took a fourth-minute lead in the Division One clash but Boro hit back though Nick Brown minutes later to level.

From then on, it was all one way as the hosts turned around 4-1 up and hit five without reply in the second period.

In-form Luke Harrop helped himself to a hat-trick but Andy Cooper went one better, hitting four – three from open play and one from the penalty spot. Jermaine Springer and Ash Slater weighed in with the other goals.

There was no joy for the area's two sides in Premier Division as Albion Sports lost 5-1 at home to to Bridlington Town while Liversedge were humbled 4-0 at home by Tadcaster Albion.

ALBION, who had skipper James Firth and the lively Danny Cunningham out injured, suffered a nightmare second half.

Brid led just 1-0 at the break after Carl Jenkinson's eighth-minute opener. Will Waudby doubled the visitors' lead before Ombeni Ruhanduka banged in a hat-trick. Albion skipper Asif Hussain netted a consolation penalty.

LIVERSEDGE had no answers to Tadcaster as the visitors won both halves 2-0 at Clayborn.

Jimmy Beadle and Daniel Clayton were both on target in the first half, with George Conway bagging a brace after the interval.
