ALBION Sports largely controlled a dull contest with basement outfit Brigg Town in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division but only beat the side yet to bank a point by the odd goal.

Kulwinder Sandhu’s men toiled but won 2-1 against a side that had played five and lost five and had a minus-15 goal difference.

Marcus Edwards gave Albion a seventh-minute lead, and that was doubled when Michael O’Brien’s deflected shot went in on the half-hour.

Brigg’s veteran former Coventry City player Jamie Barnwell netted the visitors’ 82nd-minute reply.

Liversedge romped to a 4-0 home victory over Parkgate, ending the Rotherham outfit’s 100 per cent start to the campaign.

Sedge got off to a good start, Tom Jackson giving them a tenth-minute lead before Andy Wood doubled that midway through the first half.

The second half didn’t have the same explosive opening but two goals in the final eight minutes, from Joe Walton and Wood, ensured that the home side maintained their unblemished home record.

Eccleshill United are also in good home form and strolled to a 4-2 win over Dronfield Town at the Mitton Group Stadium after racing to a 3-0 half- time advantage.

Adam Turner struck in just the second minute to open the scoring, and Luke Harrop and Joe Firth netted before the interval.

Sam Bebbington gave the visitors hope of a comeback when he netted just three minutes into the second half.

However, Turner’s second gave the Eagles a 4-1 lead, and Harley Wilson’s last-minute strike was mere consolation for Dronfield.
