IT WILL be a last chance for the home support to get behind Thackley this year when they host Armthorpe Welfare in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division tomorrow.

The Dennyboys are not at home again until January 10, when Barton Town Old Boys come to Dennyfield.

Unfortunately, Thackley miss out on a fixture altogether for over a fortnight as they have no games scheduled for December 20 or 27 at a time when they need all the help they can get.

As well as help off the pitch with the club’s finances, the Dennyboys need points on the board to pull away from strugglers like Armthorpe.

The Doncaster outfit are 19th and Thackley are 14th but have played three more games and go into tomorrow’s game on the back of consecutive league defeats and a 4-1 West Riding County Cup loss at Harrogate Town.

Albion Sports travel to Athersley Recreation, the club promoted alongside them two season’s ago.

Sports are 11 points above their opponents but Athersley have played three games fewer and will be worthy rivals, as ever.

Liversedge are well rested for their short trip to Garforth Town. Sedge were the only one of the area’s clubs to suffer a postponement last weekend when they should have hosted Athersley.

That means they have not had an outing since losing the reverse fixture against Garforth 2-0 at Clayborn a fortnight ago.

That defeat was the fifth on the spin and, with one other postponement last month, they have not banked a point since defeating Maltby Main at home on the first day of November.

Eccleshill United were due to travel to AFC Mansfield in Division One but that game has been shelved as Mansfield are still in the FA Vase.

The Eagles’ new head coach Gerard Jones, who took over from Mark Tinker after he stepped down last Saturday, will have to wait to take charge of his first game.
