LIVERSEDGE finally got the monkey off their back when they won their first home game of the season.

It was the eighth time of asking but a 4-2 victory over Maltby Main saw them finally pick up a maximum at Clayborn.

Sedge’s away form has been good and the home victory lifted them up to a respectable 13th in the Premier Division table.

It seemed that the jinx would continue as Maltby were level with four minutes to go but two late strikes brought the roof down.

Kieron Corley had given Sedge a second-minute lead but Gary Hibbitt cancelled that out midway through the first half.

Andy Wood netted to put the home side back in front before the break but an own goal by Declan Dawson just after the hour again had the sides level.

Eli Hey eased the nerves with minutes remaining and Corley put the gloss on the win with a fourth in the penultimate minute.

THACKLEY also had a home game but they slumped to a 3-1 defeat to Bridlington Town.

A Tyler Collinson strike just before the break gave Brid a half-time lead. Eddy Birch made it 2-0 and Collinson bagged his brace with eight minutes remaining before Matt Bilney scored a consolation for the Dennyboys.

ALBION SPORTS bounced back from two home defeats to register a victory on the road. Kulwinder Sandhu’s men came from a goal down to beat Parkgate 3-1.

The home side had gone in front with Adam Stapleford-Jones netting in the 17th minute but two goals in two minutes turned the game in Albion’s favour. Alex Cusack scored after good work from Karl Hall and then Cusack provided the cross for Matt Mathers to head in the second.

When Hall was fouled in the area late on, skipper Asif Hussain stepped up to seal the win from the penalty spot.

ECCLESHILL UNITED moved up to third in Division One after a 4-0 win at Lincoln Moorlands Railway, with all the goals coming in the first half.

Doug Stevenson got the opener before Jordan Hendrie, son of former Bradford City and Barnsley striker John, added the second from the penalty spot. A Matt Burras strike and an own goal from Dominic Sibiski were both timed as being in the 42nd minute.
