FARSLEY moved up to third in Evo-Stik Division One North with a 2-0 home win over New Mills last night.

The home side broke the deadlock from the penalty spot following an early foul on Aiden Savory. Marcus Edwards was foiled by a good save and from the resulting corner Farsley hit the bar.

It was then Edwards who was denied by the woodwork as he saw a shot hit the post but Farsley skipper Robbie O’Brien made it 2-0 before the break and that was how it stayed.

All the goals were also scored in the first half at the Dual Seal Stadium as BRIGHOUSE TOWN lost 3-1 to Darlington 1883 despite taking an early lead.

Barrie Frankland tucked in a rebound to break the deadlock in the second minute but the visitors equalised through Amar Purewal just minutes later. Jordan Robinson stretched their lead and Purewal added his second just before the break.

ECCLESHILL UNITED’S home game in the Toolstation Northern Counties East Division One scheduled for tonight has been shelved as opponents Dronfield Town have an FA Vase replay.
