ECCLESHILL United climbed another place to seventh in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League as they spanked Division One basement outfit Hallam 6-0.

The Eagles tore into their struggling visitors from the off and the contest was over long before the half-time whistle.

John Rogers broke the deadlock in the seventh minute and Doug Stevenson netted a sumptuous free-kick 12 minutes later.

Jordan Hendrie, son of Bantams legend John, made it 3-0 on the half-hour mark with his third goal in three games.

Hallam player Grant Allott then inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for the fourth.

The home crowd had to wait until12 minutes into the second half for their next goal but it was worth it. Stevenson produced another free- kick every bit as stunning as his first and found the top corner of Hallam's net yet again.

Matt Reda wrapped up the scoring when he converted a cross ten minutes from time as Eccleshill completed their fifth straight victory.

That run has lifted then from a floundering 18th place to within three points of top spot.

There was no joy for either Bradford area side in Premier Division as both Liversedge and Thackley both lost 3-0, while Albion Sports had a blank Saturday.

Lee Duxbury's first game in charge of Thackley was ruined by three goals inside a ten-minute spell at Athersley Recreation.

Daniel Joynes opened the scoring in the 27th minute, confusion inside the Dennyboys area led to an own goal two minutes later and Josh Moore soon added the hosts' third.

Thackley had picked up four points from their previous two matches after parting company with Andy Patterson but it proves there is still work to do for new boss Duxbury.

His side tumbled three places to 14th as a result of the defeat, while the win kept their Barnsley-based opponents in sixth place.

Liversedge's conquerors Shaw Lane Aquaforce are even higher after their win at Clayborn.

An early Joe Thornton strike put Shaw Lane in front, James Eyles added midway through the second half and Thornton made it a personal brace late on.

The result stalled 16th-placed Sedge's recovery after back-to-back wins but Shaw Lane are now second, one point off the summit with a game in hand.
