LIVERSEDGE picked up their first point of the season but they had to hold their nerve in a see-saw eight-goal thriller against fellow poor starters NOSTELL MW.

The sides were the bottom two in the Toolstation Northern Counties East, both pointless, before the game but the draw has lifted them out of the relegation zone.

Danny Critchlow gave Nostell a second-minute lead but Glen O’Gara and Andy Wood netted within minutes of each other just before the half-hour. The visitors equalised through Lee Wimslow but a Kieran Corley strike had Sedge back in front before the interval.

Tom Semley levelled again for Nostell early in the second half and Matthew Semley thought he had scored the winner 18 minutes from time. However, Ryan Waugh netted Sedge’s dramatic last-minute equaliser.

Rivals THACKLEY crashed to a 3-1 home defeat to new leaders Shaw Lane Aquaforce.

The visitors went 1-0 up from the penalty spot through Shane Kelsey and doubled their lead after the break through James Eyles. Even though Mark Trueman pulled a goal back for the Dennyboys, Lee Morris added the visitors’ third in stoppage time.

ECCLESHILL picked up their first win of the campaign in Division One when they brushed Shirebrook Town aside.

Steve Rivera and then Viktor Balis scored within minutes of each other at the end of the first half. The same two players were also on target in the second half to make it 4-0.

SILSDEN continued fine start in the North West Counties Premier Division, staying fourth after a 2-1 home victory over Ashton Athletic.

They got off to a flier as Craig Nicholls curled in a first-minute shot but the visitors levelled in the 18th minute through Michael Downing.

The Cobbydalers had lots of defending to do but they won the game 18 minutes from time when substitute Joe Jalil netted a low shot.
