Andy Patterson will be in charge of Thackley when they host Barton Town on Saturday following the departure of joint managers Lee Clapham and Dave Morgan.

The former Dennyboys player, who is being assisted by new reserve-team chief Greg Beswick, has taken over as caretaker boss at the Northern Counties East League Premier Division side until the end of the season.

A statement on Thackley’s website said the club had parted company with Clapham and that Morgan had decided to step down as he felt his ongoing illness would restrict him from being able to manage the team on his own.

Thackley could do their neighbours a favour as Barton are immediately below Brighouse Town.

Paul Quinn’s men put themselves in pole position to win the title in midweek but they face one of their toughest remaining fixtures tomorrow when fourth-placed Worksop Parramore visit.

Brighouse hammered Lincoln Moorlands Railway 9-0 on Tuesday to move into second spot – five points behind Tadcaster Albion but with three games in hand.

Eighth-placed Albion Sports will look to consolidate their position with a win at home against lowly Staveley MW tomorrow.

Kulwinder Sandhu’s men have just four games left and are looking to bank as many points as possible to avoid slipping down into mid-table in their first top-flight season.

A victory for Liversedge could help Albion stay in the hunt for a top-eight place, which brings qualification for next term’s President’s Cup, by beating seventh-placed Heanor Town.

It will be a big ask for Sedge as they travel to Derbyshire not in the best run of form.

Eccleshill United’s chance of promotion from the lower tier has passed them by but the players are still hunting glory.

The Eagles are in the West Riding County Cup final against Harrogate Town at Valley Parade on Wednesday and are also in the semi-finals of the League Cup, so Lee Duxbury’s men will be playing for their places at lowly Hallam.

In the North West Counties League Premier Division, Silsden’s run of tough games continues as they journey to fifth-placed Runcorn Town.

The Cobbydalers had played the top two clubs in their previous two games but the one point they gained, along with other results, has all but guaranteed their safety.
