Brackley Town 1, Guiseley 2

Guiseley pulled off a superb result in the Skrill Conference North tonight when they banked a hard-earned victory at high-flying Brackley Town.

The home side were right in the play-off frame but the Lions kept their own promotion chances alive with a goal in each half.

Jake Lawlor set the visitors on their way with the only goal of the first half, in the 19th minute.

Brackley did have the ball in the net but the whistle had already gone for a foul on Ben Parker.

It was a good contest and entertaining for the crowd, with chances and goal-line clearances at both ends.

Guiseley substitute Oli Johnson netted an excellent strike to make it 2-0 three minutes from time but the home side’s midfielder Brett Solkhon blotted the Lions’ clean sheet in stoppage time.

Brighouse Town also registered a maximum to boost their promotion hopes.

A Danny Naidole hat-trick helped Town to a 4-0 home win over Parkgate in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division but it was Adam Wilson who started the scoring.

Farsley fared much worse than their neighbours as they were dumped out of the Evo-Stik League Cup following a 4-0 defeat at Skelmersdale United.

The Division One North club were up against one of the Premier Division’s high flyers in Skelmersdale as they attempted to reach the semi-finals, and the top-tier outfit made home advantage pay, strolling to victory.

Neil Parsley’s men trailed by a single goal at the break but Sean Miller, who had broken the deadlock just before the half-hour, went on to bag himself a hat-trick, and Daniel Greene was also on target.

Farsley skipper Rob O’Brien had the ball in the net late on but the flag was already up for offside.

Tomorrow night, Albion Sports and Eccleshill United are both in action.

Albion will be looking to emulate counterparts Brighouse when they host Worksop Parramore in the Premier Division.

Eccleshill have an interesting third-round tie in the League Cup.

The Eagles are seventh in Division One but they host Tadcaster Albion, who are top of the Premier and setting the pace for the likes of Brighouse and Albion.
