Guiseley’s derby clash with Harrogate Town in the Conference North was postponed yesterday following a 3.30pm pitch inspection at Nethermoor – and the Lions could be thwarted by the weather again tonight.

Mark Bower’s men are scheduled for another neighbourhood battle with a short trip to Eccleshill United in the West Riding County Cup semi-finals.

Bower said: “Last night’s postponement was unavoidable and I don’t think it came as a great surprise to anyone. The way the pitch was after Saturday’s game and with the rain since, it was unplayable.

“There would have been plenty of changes for tonight’s match in any case because we want to give some players game time and get some of the lads from the Academy involved.

“But looking at the forecast and from what we’ve heard from the people up at Eccleshill, it’s unlikely that the cup tie will go ahead.”

There were also postponements in the Northern Counties East League last night.

Brighouse Town’s third-round League Cup tie at home to Long Eaton United, as well as Albion Sports’ trip to Lincoln Moorlands Railway in the Premier Division, fell victim to the ongoing heavy rain.
