FORMER Pakistan cricket captain Misbah ul-Haq will be in Bradford this weekend to talk about his illustrious career in the sport.

'I am Misbah' will see the country’s most successful captain discuss his 19-year stint in the game at Cedar Court Hotel on Saturday.

The 43-year-old, who retired in 2017, led his side to 26 Test match victories, the most of any Pakistani cricketer, while Ul-Haq also won several accolades including the 2009 Twenty20 World Cup and the Wisden Cricketer of the Year award in 2017.

The ex-batsman holds the record for the fastest ever Test fifty, while he also hit the joint-fastest Test century.

Rehan Iqbal, who will host the interview, said: “Misbah’s stats are better than some of the biggest stars, he’s broken a lot of records and he has one of the highest averages for a Pakistani cricketer.

“We’re going to be playing videos and showing images from his career and hopefully these will allow him to reveal exactly what he was thinking at a particular moment.

“At the end we’re going to have some quickfire questions, where we’ll ask him, for example, who his toughest opponents were. It’s an event that anyone interested in sport will enjoy.”

The event, organised in partnership with Islamic Relief, will also be raising funds for charitable projects in Pakistan.

Iqbal said: “Once we knew Misbah was attending, we reached out to charities with the idea of raising money alongside the event.

“We’ll be enjoying ourselves but also benefiting communities in Pakistan. Misbah is a big advocate of that so we should have a really good time.”

Following the interview with Ul-Haq, guests can also enjoy a three-course meal and will have the opportunity to get personal equipment signed by the former star.

The event will begin at 6pm, with tickets priced at £15. For an extra £5, guests can also take part in a meet and greet session with the ex-batsman.
