THERE was a high scoring ding-dong affair between the top two sides in Craven League Division Three.

Second-placed Cononley were in fine fettle in South Craven as they walloped 270-3 with Charles Calvert (123no) and Cameron Knowles (68) putting on 155 for the second wicket. Calvert and Andy Starkey (64) then put on 110 for the third wicket.

Champions Gargrave had a good go in reply but fell short on 249-9. Will Smith (62) and John Beckwith (56) put on 92 for the first wicket as Herbie Starkey took 5-52.

In a 40-over game, at Wagon Lane, Eldwick & Gilstead made 156-9, Stephen Timperley (44) and Chris Childs (29) top-scoring as Connor Hall Brown claimed 3-37. Visitors Bradford & Bingley III replied with 133, with Timperley taking 3-32.

Bingley Congs II saw off nine-man Bradley by 59 runs at Beckfoot Lane. Ben Hemsley (59) and Dave Hemsley (52) saw the home side to 173-6 as Toby Meynell (4-26) did most of the damage with the ball. Caspar Bean (61no) helped the Matthew Lane side to 114-8.

Thornton rounded off their season with a nine-wicket triumph over Barrowford II at Booth Bridge Lane. Mark Laycock (4-41) and Ian Holden (3-25) helped the Bull Holme side back to the pavilion for 101. Kevin Pollard (56no) and Tim Gates (40no) then saw the hosts to the points.

Embsay II posted 115 with Stephen Speak making 37 as Rob Cockell took 3-33. Visitors Skipton CI were hustled out for 87 with Martin Chisnall (33) top-scoring and Paul Wormald taking 3-23.

Sandy Lane II conceded to Riddlesden, which means that the Grange Road side are relegated.

Division Four A champions Sutton II rounded off the season with a 37-run victory in a low-scoring game at Gargrave.

The Royd Hill side were restricted to 99-8, mainly by a fine spell of bowling from Tony Spensley (6-14). Steady bowling saw the Skipton Road side hustled back to the pavilion for 62.

Second-placed Crossflatts II had their game against Foulridge II at Noyna abandoned when they were in a tight hole. Flatts were 56-7 when stumps were drawn with Irfan Khaliq taking 5-10 off 11 overs.

Denholme suffered a seven-wicket defeat against Hepworth & Idle II at Bradford Road. Neil Spencer (58) helped the hosts to 107-8. In reply Luke Harland (48) and John McDermott (38no) saw the visitors to the points.

Cowling II conceded their game to Glusburn II as did Bradley II against Haworth II.

Division Four B champions Silsden said goodbye to the division in fine style as they beat Skipton CI II by 155 runs at Keighley Road.

Tony Berry (91) and Hugh Sugden (62no) saw the home side to 215-4. The visitors replied with a modest 60-9. Matthew Raw (32) was the only player in double figures as Will Pullen (4-7) and Max Worsencroft (3-35) carved through them.

Second-placed Glusburn II received three points when Cowling II were unable to raise a side. It was a similar story when Cononley II conceded to Ingrow II.

Chatburn II entertained Long Lee II and figured in an exciting finish. The Ribble Valley side produced an important last-wicket stand of 18 which saw them post 97 all out.

The Golden View visitors reached 96-8 when opener Jan Haider perished for 56 before the last pair were unable to add another run as Long Lee were dismissed a run short.

The game between Wilsden II and Airedale II was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Oakworth III got their third win of the season when they beat Bingley Congs III by eight wickets at Penistone Park.

Tim Summers (39) top-scored as his side made a modest 62 with under-14s Ellis Marshall (4-10) and Oliver Bishop (3-10) performing with the ball. Then under-12 player Lewis Brown made 35no to see his side to the points.
