FRESH from victory over defending champions Beckwithshaw, Burley take on early season leaders North Leeds tomorrow with an eye to taking over top spot.

Dan Revis (80) and Nick Bulcock (4-25) starred in last week’s win but they are likely to face a tougher task this time round especially from Leeds’ opener George Wales, who is in impressive early season form.

Like Burley, Otley are sitting only one point behind North Leeds and they will be determined to bounce back from defeat by Rawdon when they entertain Adel.

That victory put Rawdon among the early pacemakers and they will be confident going to Beckwithshaw who seem to be a shadow of last season’s side following skipper Alex Lilley’s move to the Bradford League.

Horsforth were the first team to expose the champions’ fragility but they have struggled since, skittled out for 64 by Pool last week. They now entertain Ilkley who, along with Beckwithshaw, have still to register a win.

Guiseley are the third member of that unwanted club and will need to show a massive improvement if they are to overcome Pool, for whom David Amos (6-25) and Matthew Naylor (4-39) proved so deadly last week.

Tong Park Esholt and Addingham have both made 100 per cent starts to their Division Two campaigns but both face tricky matches.

TPE entertain Hall Park who after an initial defeat have got back their edge and crushed Colton last week, Mark McEneaney (5-17) and Sam Wilkinson (4-3) ripping them out for just 21.

Addingham travel to Kirkstall Educational who always look capable of making a high score and will test the in-form attack of Alex Hentschke and Ricky Palacio.

Saltaire have made a solid start to life in the second tier and will hope to find Colton still vulnerable while Olicanian travel to Collingham, who racked up a big score against Calverley last week.

That left Calverley in the bottom two and they face another testing afternoon at Leeds Modernians, while the other two sides without a win, Ben Rhydding and Steeton, meet.

Green Lane are the only Division Three side with a perfect start, bowlers Chris Spivey and Azhar Mahmood having already taken 22 wickets between them. They should prove too strong for Menston.

Bolton Villas will look to build on last week’s win over Bardsey but will need to take their ‘A’ game to New Rover who are among the promotion favourites.

Thackley have shown some decent form in defeat over the last couple of weeks and should break their duck against new boys Old Leodiensians.

Ben Holderness’s century helped Skipton open their account last week, increasing confidence for their trip to Bardsey while Harden will start as favourites against St Chads.

Sunday sees the start of the new-look Waddilove Cup, now only open to the top 16 teams from the previous season, and it has already produced some mouth-watering ties.

None more so than the clash between Burley and Otley who between them have won the cup in five of the last eight seasons.

Otley will be hoping for a repeat of the result in the second match of the season when Stephen Brown’s century and 4-39 spell saw them comfortable 89-run winners.

Rawdon, who last lifted the trophy in 1950 are at holders Beckwithshaw for the second day in a row, while Guiseley, second only to Otley in overall number of Waddilove titles, take on last season’s beaten finalists Bilton.

Horsforth entertain top of the table North Leeds while Ilkley travel to Follifoot.

Flying the flag for Division Two are Tong Park Esholt, beaten finalists in 2016, who are at Colton, and Ben Rhydding who travel to Pool.
