PUDSEY St Lawrence will be looking for revenge in tomorrow’s Black Sheep Yorkshire Champions final.

Their opponents are York who beat them in last year’s final after a century from Yorkshire’s Jack Leaning.

St Lawrence know that only victory will guarantee them a place in the competition next year after missing out on a third-successive All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League title.

The final is being played at Masham, home town of the competition sponsors, and the match is part of the celebrations of the brewers’ 25th anniversary.

St Lawrence would like nothing better than to finish the season with a piece of silverware.

Last season they had the misfortune to lose in three finals – the Priestley Cup, Black Sheep Yorkshire Champions Trophy and the Yorkshire Premier League Play-Offs.

Skipper James Smith will be hoping to field a full-strength side for what promising to be another well-balanced encounter.

Inconsistency has dogged St Lawrence’s performances this season, but one man who has repeatedly performed well is opening batsman Adam Waite.

If Waite and his opening partner Mark Robertshaw can get the innings off to a good start, St Lawrence’s chances of victory will be enhanced.

St Lawrence are expected to field three spin bowlers in Chris Marsden, Steve Watts and Tom Hudson, but the wet weather may make conditions more favourable for the seamers.

York are today looking to seal the Yorkshire ECB Premier League North title and secure a play-off semi-final against Hanging Heaton at Scarborough next Saturday.
