TABLE-topping Farsley continued their rich vein of form with an emphatic eight-wicket win at East Bierley in the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League Premier Division.

Once again their bowlers were key to the triumph.

Yorkshire's James Wainman posed the early problems with 4-28 before left-arm spinner Adam Ahmed wrapped up the innings with 4-3 as East Bierley capitulated for 81.

Umar Yaqoob gave Farsley a nasty scare when he dismissed openers James Price and Matthew Revis with just three runs on the board.

But skipper Ryan Cooper made sure that the early setbacks were quickly forgotten as he steered his side to victory with an unbeaten 50, an innings which contained three sixes and six fours.

Dan Hodgson (25no) joined him in an unbroken stand of 78.

Callum Geldart's first century for Hanging Heaton helped them recover from a poor start to post a challenging 243-7 against New Farnley, which was the key to their 46-run win.

Openers Gary Fellows went cheaply before Geldart steadied the ship with assistance from Richard Foster (31).

Geldart, a close-season capture from Pudsey Congs, made exactly 100 from 130 balls.

His innings included four sixes and nine fours against a bowling attack in which former Yorkshire spinner James Middlebrook (3-42) impressed.

New Farnley had a number of batsmen get starts but nobody was able to play the sort of innings that would enable them to top the Hanging Heaton total.

Middlebrook (34) and Lee Goddard (30) proved to be top scorers in a total of 197.

Left-arm spinner Muhammad Rameez again impressed with 4-33, while paceman Tom Chippendale took 3-61.

Woodlands maintained their title challenge with a seven-wicket win over defending champions Pudsey St Lawrence in a match reduced to 37 overs per side due to the early-morning rain.

Spinner Chris Brice (3-38) and Scott Richardson (3-40) kept a check on the scoring rate when St Lawrence batted first, with only opener Adam Waite (62), settling in to play an innings of note in a total of 145-8.

Woodlands lost skipper Tim Jackson without a run on the board, and Jamie Pickering also went cheaply, but order was restored by Sam Frankland (57) and Greg Finn (50no) as they eased to their target with 5.5 overs to spare.

There was no doubting the importance of Cleckheaton's game with fellow strugglers Batley, and Cleckheaton skipper John Wood was quick to stamp his authority on the game with bat and ball.

Wood (39) and Mally Nicholson (41) showed the resolve needed to get their side out of their recent slump with knocks which helped their side to a total of 201.

Muhammad Shahnawaz (4-44) and Muhammad Hafeez (3-58) were the best of the bowlers for Batley.

Former Durham and Lancashire paceman Wood doesn't bowl much these days, but it didn't show as he wiped out the Batley top order with a spell of 4-18.

Muhammad Khan battled for his 54 but Sam Wilson (3-54) helped bowl out Batley for 156 - the 45-run win enabling Cleckheaton to climb out of the bottom two at their opponents' expense.

The match between Pudsey Congs and Townville was reduced to 45 overs each and the visitors made good progress when they batted first.

Brayden Clark is proving a valuable addition after joining from South Kirkby Colliery.

He scored an unbeaten 100, hitting four sixes and eight fours in his 89-ball stay at the crease.

Opener Jonathan Booth made a solid 50, while skipper Nick Bresnan made a brisk 35 not out to nudge the total to 232-4.

Bottom team Congs found the going tough against Townville spinner Jack Hughes (6-41) as they were restricted to 158-8.

The one bright spot in their 74-run defeat was the unbeaten 55 from Jonathan Donnelly.

Coming in with his side deep in trouble, he played brightly and hit two sixes and seven fours.

The last time Bradford & Bingley came up against Yorkshire's Alex Lees, he hit a league record score of 227 not out.

In view of that, Bradford & Bingley might have been more than a little anxious to see his name on the Lightcliffe teamsheet.

This time he was dismissed by paceman Jack Hartley for 38 as Bradford & Bingley bowled out Lightcliffe for 112 to complete a 122-run win. Spinner Noman Ali was the key bowler with 4-13.

Bradford & Bingley were wobbling at 58-4 when they batted first, but Matthew Duce (40), Hamzah Iqbal (39) and Ali (38) restored order before Yassir Abbas cut loose.

He made 55 off just 24 balls, with three sixes and five fours, to swell his team's total to 234-9.

Rob Burton (3-44) and Daanyaal Ahmed (3-54) were Lightcliffe's most successful bowlers.
