KEIGHLEY have re-signed all-rounders Alex Towler and Max Davidson, neither of whom played last season due to injury and personal circumstances.

Having already proved themselves at the club's winter nets, they will add crucial experience to the signings already made.

All-rounder Towler, a former captain of both the first and second teams, is champing at the bit to be playing at Lawkholme Lane again.

He said: "I'm raring to go and get the league campaign under way.

"I feel like I have trained well and I'm excited to help the team seal promotion this season.

"I like to think, even at the grand age of 34, that I can bring a lot of energy, along with a depth of experience to boost an already talented young group of individuals."

Towler captained Keighley to a Priestley Shield win in 2012 – Keighley's last major cup success and the first since 1983.

He is also the only player left at the club who was part of the team to win promotion to the top flight and play at that level.

Davidson, who is six years younger than Towler, initially joined the club as a 17-year-old to play for the juniors, but worked his way through the seconds and into the first XI, where he was established for several years.

His feats include a five-wicket haul as a 17-year-old against the might of Wrenthorpe, and he also has three Bradford League centuries to his name and will help to bolster Keighley in that discipline.

The club are looking to make at least one more signing before the season starts on Saturday, April 21.
