BOWLING Old Lane have tiptoed their way into the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League's Priestley Shield final.

Having beaten Pudsey St Lawrence by eight runs in the second round, they defeated East Bierley by one wicket in the quarter-finals and repeated the dose in the semi-finals with a one-wicket victory at Yeadon.

Maybe Old Lane will feel that their name will be on that magnificent trophy when they face holders Woodlands in the final at Methley on Sunday, September 3 (noon).

After losing skipper Andy Pickering for five at 21, Yeadon lost wickets in clusters in their way to 140 all out.

Sam Massheder fell at 38, Aaron Day at 39, Simeon Pickering at 63, opener Joel Duerden (29) at 64, Tony Gilks (25) at 127 in a partnership of 63 with Ryan Mooney (36), Robbie Welsh at 128, Mooney at 138 and David Machell and Matthew Yeadon at 140.

Abu Bakar-Siddiq (6-36) and Sajid Khan (3-24) did well for Old Lane, but new-ball partner Adam Zahid deserves praise for a spell of 0-12 off ten overs.

Old Lane made the better start via skipper Zubair Najeeb (26) and Shahid Alishan (16), and were 70-2 before their wickets started tumbling.

They were 72-5 and 128-9 but were seen across the line by No 8 Khan (32no) and, for the second time running, wicket-keeper Faisal Mahmood (5no).

Defeat was tough on Mooney, who took 6-34 in his ten overs, and Gilks and Duerden, who conceded 18 and 17 runs respectively in their ten overs.

The other semi-final was a high-scoring contrast, with Woodlands making 267 at Batley, skipper Cieran Garner hitting 14 fours in his 102 which spanned 104 balls.

He put on 141 for the first wicket with Liam Brearley (43), Nick Rushworth (39) chipping in as Mustafa Bhatti took 5-45 and Mohammed Yaqoob 3-35.

Batley replied with 236, Bhatti making 46 and Ebrahim Laher 41, Tom Clee taking 4-47 and Garner 3-29.
