TOM Kohler-Cadmore believes he is finally getting to grips with life at Yorkshire after struggling to deal with the psychology of moving to a new county.

The ex-Worcestershire batsman has posted scores of 45 and 75 in his last two NatWest T20 Blast matches against Lancashire and Leicestershire after threatening without going on in a handful of games beforehand.

In 12 previous innings in T20 and Championship cricket, Kohler-Cadmore posted scores of 31, 27, 37 and 29.

It was something which he admitted had irked him following his June move from New Road.

Thankfully, things are starting to look up for the dynamic right-hander, a former Yorkshire under-15s player with family links to the White Rose county.

Kohler-Cadmore, who turns 23 on Saturday, will open the innings again in tomorrow's must-win final Blast group game against Northamptonshire at Headingley.

He said: "It's nice to start scoring runs. You want to come in and hit the ground running and you try so hard. But it's about getting used to the fact that you can feel your way in.

"You don't have to come in and impress your team-mates because they already respect you. It's more the pressure I've put on myself.

"I think that's held me back but I've come to terms with just doing what I do. I'm starting to find my feet a bit more.

"Also, it's T20 cricket, so fine margins. The amount of times I've been caught on the fence, whereas against Lancs and Leicester they just went over for six.

"T20 cricket, you've got to take the risk. Some days it will come off, others it won't. It's been frustrating so far but hopefully I can push on now."

Kohler-Cadmore's 75 against Leicestershire was a different innings to what we had seen him play before. On a pitch with a little bit in it for the bowlers, he was more measured, despite still only facing 40 balls.

"I felt it wasn't the easiest pitch to bully the ball on," he said.

"I tried to work on hitting the gaps instead of taking on the men as such. I'd try to accumulate with fours rather than hitting every ball for six like normal."

The Vikings have won five and lost five of their 13 North Group games to leave them needing to win tomorrow and hope other results go their way in order to reach the quarter-finals.

But Kohler-Cadmore remains confident and said: "Every game we've lost this year has been a nail-biter. I don't think we've lost a game where it hasn't gone to the last over. It's just a matter of time for us in that regard.

"Win on Thursday night against Northants and hopefully progress through. Then, when we do get that nail-biter in the quarters, semis or even the final, we can go on and win it.

"It's just a massive game. It's knockout cricket. Win it and we'll have the momentum.

"If you're first or fourth, you've still got to play a game to get through to Finals Day. It's all about winning that next one. It doesn't matter what you did yesterday or last week.

"Northants are a dangerous side with players who know their roles. It's going to be a very good game. Hopefully we'll get a good crowd. I'm looking forward to playing in it."
